Elements of Art Non Objective Paintings

Students in Painting and Advanced Painting created a non objective painting using acrylic paint and mixed media elements such as fabric and tissue paper. The goal was to showcase all elements of art (color, texture, value, line, space and shape- we left out form since we were working within a 2-D space) within their painting. Students viewed artwork by the famous Russian painter Wassily Kandinsky to see how he used the elements to create nonobjective paintings. This project was the first project this year in painting and gave students the chance to play around with the acrylic paint, palette knife painting, using gloss medium and impasto paste.
